Committee

Meet our Committee Members

Meet the team who work in the background to ensure everything runs smoothly and your child is kept safe.

Phil Hall

Chairman and Treasurer

Phil has held a whole portfolio of roles since his first involvement with Spa Theatre Company in 1986, when his elder daughter joined the company. He is currently the Treasurer and Chairman, being responsible for the overall management of the organisation, including the appointment of the artistic directors. He brings a wealth of experience.

Prior to his retirement, Phil was a civil engineer responsible for the design management of a huge number of infrastructure projects in the transport sector.

His enthusiasm for amateur musical theatre is undiminished even after all the years of his involvement. He is very proud of the family connection to Spa Theatre Company, with two daughters, his wife and now a granddaughter being involved and supporting him. He would also like to thank the huge numbers of volunteers who have supported him through the years.

Vicky Burford

Secretary

Vicky has held a number of roles at Spa Theatre Committee since joining the committee in 2016 when her children first joined the company. She is currently the Secretary to the company and supports the rest of the committee to undertake their roles, ensuring smooth administration and adherence to our charitable responsibilities.

Outside of Spa Theatre Company, Vicky is Chair of Trustees for another charity PANS PANDAS UK and is part of the Senior Leadership Team at The Aplastic Anaemia Trust. Vicky brings a wealth of experience in the charity sector.

Musical theatre is one of Vicky’s greatest loves, and along with her family can often be heard singing the classics around the dinner table... Aside from musical theatre, in her spare time, Vicky can be found baking (her most recent creation was her daughter’s wedding cake!) or doing karaoke with her large and music loving family!

Anoushka Sheehan

Membership Manager

I became involved with Spa Theatre in 2006 when my eldest daughter joined the company. I have always held the membership manager role but have covered many other areas when we have been short of volunteers. Although my children are no longer members (my youngest daughter is now the choreographer) I still enjoy being a part of Spa Theatre Juniors and watching the kids grow in confidence year on year.

I enjoy reading, live music and the theatre, obviously. The last show I watch was the Book of Mormon again.

I live locally with my children, two dogs, two cats and a tortoise.

This year I am looking forward to seeing Hadestown again with the original Broadway cast, Coraline, Hercules and obviously Matilda.

Emma Graves

Safeguarding Manager

Meet Emma, our dedicated Safeguarding Manager, now in her fourth year with Spa Theatre Juniors.

Since joining in 2021, when her daughter first took to the stage, Emma has supported productions including The Little Mermaid, Seussical the Musical, Les Misérables, and is currently preparing for Matilda.

This year is particularly special, as Emma's son has also joined the company for Matilda, making it a true family affair. In her role, she plays a vital part in safeguarding, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all young performers, and contributes to the management committee’s efforts to keep everything running smoothly.

A lifelong musical theatre enthusiast, Emma sees around six shows a year, from West End productions to performances at the Birmingham Hippodrome and local theatres. She finds it incredibly rewarding to witness the growth, confidence, and talent each child brings to the stage.

Outside of Spa Theatre, Emma enjoys sharing her love of theatre with her family, who are as inspired by the arts as she is.

Jayne Melville

Marketing Manager

Meet Jayne, our newest committee member who joined the team earlier this year after her daughter became a member of the company. In her role, Jayne oversees marketing efforts, which include promoting auditions, creating programmes, marketing shows, and managing social media.

In her short time here with Spa, she has thoroughly enjoyed discovering the intricacies of putting on a show and finds helping backstage during live performances to be especially rewarding. “The passion and talent these youngsters have is simply mind-blowing,” she shares. In her spare time, Jayne loves to cook, spend quality time with her family and go on holiday. She has a passion for baking and enjoys crafting as well. A proud owner of two crazy cocker spaniels, Jayne was introduced to the world of musical theatre by her youngest daughter a few years ago.

Since then, she has developed a love for live performances, attending shows like Mamma Mia, Hadestown, Operation Mincemeat, Mrs. Doubtfire, Les Misérables, Hamilton and The Addams Family and that is just last year!

With a background in business development, sales, recruitment and HR, Jayne brings a wealth of experience to our team.

Sophie Wilkinson

Fundraising Manager

Having dedicated the past four years to working with Spa Theatre, Sophie has enjoyed a delightful journey alongside her daughter. Initially serving as a chaperone for three years, ensuring the well-being and safety of young performers. Sophie has now joined the committee, where she plays a more integral role in the theatre's operations as the Fundraising Manager.

Sophie’s passion for the performing arts is deeply rooted in her own history, during her childhood Sophie was an avid dancer and regularly participated in stage productions until the age of 19. These formative years on stage instilled in her a profound appreciation for the arts and a keen understanding of the dedication required to bring a performance to life.

Sophie and her daughter attend multiple theatre shows and live productions throughout the year, providing them with continuous exposure to the dynamic world of live performance.
